Established by the Mayfield Lions in 2006, the Mt. Somers MTB Classic Bike Race is an event for all ages and all capabilities. Bellbirds and fantails accompany riders on their journey through this rugged, captivating landscape that weaves through tussock and flax, shady forests and the flourishing native bush of the historic Mt. Somers Station. This invigorating ride is broken down into three individual events, depending on the skill level and competitiveness of each rider, making it a day the whole family can enjoy.
The proceeds from this historic race go towards providing accommodation and support to families who need to travel for their child’s medical treatment. Enter here or come down on the day to support the determined mountain bikers who are racing on the day!
Look out for the country’s biggest Trucking Show this year, to be held at the A&P Showgrounds in Christchurch on Saturday 10 March.
Trucks from all over NZ will gather at the A&P Showgrounds in Christchurch. The Trucking Industry Show is a great family day out. Be prepared to be there all day because there is going to be so much to see. It’s hard not to get excited when you see over 400 working trucks that have been polished back to new condition!
Ronald McDonald House South Island and Child Cancer Foundation are the two charities of choice for this fantastic family event, so come down and check it out. In 2016, each charity received $8,250 from this generous event, and 2018 is hoping to raise even more.
There is also an opportunity to volunteer for the morning or afternoon at this event, helping with children’s activities like the Mega Bouncy Truck, the sand pit, Doug the Digger and a special Race Track! Visit https://www.truckingindustryshow.co.nz/ to find out more
