Lends a hand to Marlborough families
Ronald McDonald House South Island Director of House Operations Zucchi Leonard says a $5,000 grant from the Redwood Trust will make a real difference to the lives of families we support.
The Trust awarded RMHSI a $5,000 grant to support families from the Marlborough region who must travel to Christchurch for their child’s medical treatment. In 2017, 5 per cent of our families came from Marlborough.
“Usually these families receive little notice that they must leave home and travel to Christchurch – sometimes for just one or two nights, or many months – it can be an incredibly stressful time,” says Zucchi.
“Our job is to remove those stressors and make sure these families do not have to worry about costly hotel stays and meals. It is organisations like the Redwood Trust that ensure we can continue our important work.”
