COVID-19 Update for the Christchurch House and Family Room, Southland Hospital

With the news that Auckland is now Alert Level Three, here is where you can find all the updated information about how this affects Ronald McDonald House South Island facilities – Ronald McDonald House South Island in Christchurch, Ronald McDonald Family Room, Christchurch Hospital and the Ronald McDonald Family Room, Southland Hospital.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritise the needs of those whānau staying with us.

Ronald McDonald House South Island – Christchurch

  • Contact tracing must occur
  • Physical distancing of two metres must occur
  • Essential individual volunteers are still able to come into the House, provided you are under 65 and not showing any symptoms
  • No group volunteering or Family Dinner Programme is happening at this time. This will continue until 20 September, 2020
  • A chef will prepare evening meals for the families instead
  • No visitors are permitted inside the House, and all activities are cancelled
  • In order that all families can access communal areas like the kitchen, dining room and shared spaces, a roster system will be in place
  • Families are encouraged to make use of PPE, which is provided by the House and available in rooms and in communal areas

Ronald McDonald Family Room – Christchurch Hospital

  • Only one family is able to use this facility at a time
  • Contact tracing must occur
  • Physical distancing of two metres must occur
  • Families are encouraged to make use of PPE

Ronald McDonald Family Room – Southland Hospital

  • Contact tracing must occur
  • Physical distancing of two metres must occur
  • Essential individual volunteers are able to come into the Family Room, provided you are under 65 and not showing any symptoms
  • No group volunteering is happening at this time
  • No visitors are permitted inside the Family Room, and all activities are cancelled
  • Families are encouraged to make use of PPE, which is provided by the Family Room and available in rooms and in communal areas
