Regular Giving Heroes

“Every little bit helps so don’t think you can’t make a difference!”

Helping families stay together during tough times was the inspiration behind a Southland family’s decision to donate regularly to Ronald McDonald House South Island.

Lisa and Mathew Grace from Mataura have been giving regular donations to support both our Christchurch House and Southland Family Room since 2016.

Each year the family sets aside some of their income and has a think about who or what they could give to.

The family has three young children, so Lisa says they decided to focus their giving on child and family-centred organisations.

“We are blessed with very healthy children and wanted to give to an organisation which looks after families who have a child struggling with health. We are currently in a position where we can donate, and one day it could be us needing help.

“I wouldn’t see us as super heroes but rather just a ‘drop in the ocean’ which, together with other drops has the opportunity to make life a little easier for others – why wouldn’t we do that while we can?”

While Lisa is humble about her family’s generosity, our CEO Mandy says regular giving is essential to operating our facilities.

“Regular givers ensure our facilities remain open today, tomorrow, and well into the future. Their donations give security to our organisation and we cannot thank donors like Lisa and Mathew enough.”
