Room Sponsor Spotlight

A passion for giving back to their community was the driving force behind a group of teenagers’ decision to sponsor a room at our Christchurch House.

Papanui High School are now the proud sponsors of the Teenagers Room, a space of solace and relaxation for teenagers staying in our facility.

Families with children up to the age of 21 can stay at our Christchurch House, and Director of House Operations Zucchi Leonard says the Teenagers Room is an important space in the facility.

“The main House areas can often get very busy with families and younger children, which is why having this space with couches, foosball and even a packman machine is so important for our teenage houseguests.”

For Papanui High School students, sponsoring the Teenagers Room felt like the perfect fit.

The funds to sponsor the room were raised in three ways – the year 9 and 10 students had work days, the Kimi Ora Department organised car washes for the staff, and mufti days were held throughout 2017.

Members of the school’s student council said they were appreciative to be able to sponsor the room, and couldn’t wait to get stuck in and start a teenage room ‘makeover’.
