The Southern Trust

Providing a ‘home away from home’ for families in Christchurch

Ronald McDonald House South Island CEO Mandy Kennedy says the organisation is thrilled to receive a $28,000 grant from The Southern Trust to cover operational costs at our Christchurch House.

“For families who stay with us, being far away from home with a child in hospital is an incredibly stressful time,” says Mandy.

The funds granted by The Southern Trust go towards paying for our 26-bedroom House’s electricity, gas, internet and Sky Television costs.

“This ensures the families who stay with us are warm, connected to home, and siblings are entertained. These ‘home away from home’ comforts mean families are far better placed to cope with their child’s hospital treatment,” says Mandy.

So far this year, we have provided free accommodation to over 400 families.

“The need for our services is constant and growing, which is why we are so incredibly grateful to The Southern Trust for putting families first.”
