Keep families close

Join a team that is passionate about keeping families close, in a work environment that is rewarding, supportive and inspiring. Our team is small and tight-knit, and roles vary from administration and housekeeping to fundraising and management.

Fundraising Advisor, Invercargill-based

This part-time role is a new position to work with our team in Southland.  We are looking for a team player, who knows the Southland community well and has an exceptional passion for our Mission.

Our place is a special one – Ronald McDonald House South Island provides families with accommodation and support while their child receives hospital care, all free of charge. Last year, we provided free accommodation and support for over 1,280 families in Christchurch and Invercargill and because we receive no direct government funding, our team works tirelessly to raise support in the community to keep our doors open for those who really need it.

This part-time role is based at the Ronald McDonald Family Room, Southland Hospital and will be working directly in the community space. Each day will look different in this role, and a large part of that is driven by you!

We’re looking for someone who can get out and about across Invercargill and Southland, is well organised and engaging, with an excellent work ethic.  You will be connecting with our community, speaking at engagements on behalf of the Family Room, sharing our stories with supporters and lending a hand to help us to deliver our Southland-based events – all with a view to raising funds for our Charity.

We’re after a team player with empathy, integrity, and initiative. You have a big heart, a desire to make a difference in the lives of families and impeccable communication skills. You’ll be comfortable relating to many different groups of people and public speaking. Your experience with people and communications will be the foundations you bring to our team, and your willingness to learn new things will set you apart.  You will be mobile in this role and the expectation is that you will spend the majority of your time out and about in the community and you will work closely with our talented Christchurch-based fundraising team.

This is a part-time, fixed-term role until December 2020. We can offer an opportunity to join an outstanding Charity, flexible working hours, meaningful mahi and the incredible chance to know you’re making a difference in the lives of families who stay with us, every single day.

Here at Ronald McDonald House South Island, every decision is guided by the question, ‘Is this the right thing to do for the whānau staying with us?’

We lead with compassion and are driven by excellence. Each and every day you will meet courageous children and their families knowing that you are making a difference. We look forward to seeing if you are the right person who will help us keep families close.
